From April we are changing the format of our Youth Services, in line with Personal Budgets being bought in for children in Norfolk.

We have lots of exciting new opportunities on offer to our young people. Our Youth Programme offers children and young people the chance to take part in activities alongside their peers. We are proud that our programmes give our members the chance to develop real friendships, try new experiences, build confidence and learn skills to help them to unlock their full potential.

Who can access?

  • Any child living with a disability/learning difficulty- (ages are specified within each programme)

How do I sign up/sign my child up?

  • Please complete our referral form to sign someone up for our services. Once this is complete we will contact you and usually arrange a visit to you to meet with you and discuss which parts of our programme you’d like to access.

How much does it cost and will I have to pay?

  • All of our Youth Services can be accessed via the NCC Short Breaks Scheme.
  • Each individual will be set an hourly rate according to their level of need.
  • Our services can be paid for privately.

We run a whole range of activities that take place on weekday evenings, weekends and school holidays. Please see our full list of services below. These services are bookable to young people that have been through the sign up process with us and are registered as members of About with Friends.

We also have exciting new services coming soon such as Domiciliary Care, Support in the Community and Buddying.

AWF offers and amazing, caring, supportive group to both special needs adults/children & their families. Since N joined you he has been to some fantastic places, met some amazing friends and done activities we would never have thought he’d do. You have helped our family life improve by making N a happier, more content, confident boy.

We cannot tell you what AWF means to us as a family – a lifeline, a light in the dark. Something that has offered our daughter equality, to have a social life and really support us as a family.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to you and everyone else that supported H on the recent trip – she had an amazing time. I enjoyed look at the Twitter feed to see what you had been up to.

A big thank you to yourself and the About with Friends staff for another great trip! J had a fantastic time, going on the Harry Potter Studio Tour, which he had wanted to do for ages and ages.

About with Friends and you particularly, have done some great work with excellent outcomes for D. I was particularly pleased to hear that you are working on integration with the Youth Group as I felt he would miss out on peer interaction if he didn’t come to college.

I haven’t seen D for ages and he looks like a new man . The stress has gone from his face – he looks great Well done !!!!

Just a short note to thank you all for your help with our daughter. she has spent many years at school with little improvement in her behaviour and speech, yet in just a few weeks she has been with you guys the improvements in both areas are plain to see.

I am not sure what the different methods used are but please continue as you are, as life at the moment for us as a family is greatly improved because of your input.

We are very aware of her complex needs and how she can change like the wind but we will continue to enjoy the fruits of your labours.

Over the last five years I have had a fortnightly, 2 hour designated gardening slot. I highly value your service and ethos.

Thank you for taking K to Milton Keynes on holiday, it made her extremely happy. Selfishly, it gave my wife a much sought after period of respite after 16 years of constant care.

After 30 years of trying to get P engaged in activities, he is now, under your care, beginning to grow like a great Oak tree.
