As
a Charity we exist to support our members to get out more, to
enjoy activities of all kinds and to develop friendships.
These are our rules of membership, and work to the benefit
of all members and the organisation
Membership
Payment
Membership runs
January to January, and is now due.
The yearly membership supports About with Friends running
costs and entitles the member to fully participate in the range of
services offered by the charity.
If this poses a problem for you please contact the Project
Director to discuss options.
The Trustees have
set the Adult membership (19 and over) for 2010 at £30 per
person. Apologies
that this has gone up slightly, but so have all our costs,
postage, phone bills, hire of halls etc.
The Trustees have
set the Youth membership (14 to 19 year olds) for 2010 at £15 per
person, due to the level of funding from our funder for this
project this is set at a lower amount.
Activity
Choices
Members will
receive a regular Activity List which details all activities for
the coming month(s).
All activities,
except young people’s group, need to be booked in advance; this
is because we need to ensure that we have adequate volunteer cover
for each activity and to ensure its safety.
Places are
sometimes limited so it is advisable to book choices early. To
book onto an activity Members can either
-
Contact our office with their choices off activity
from the list.
-
Hand in a letter or note - clearly marked with your
name.
-
Email your choices to ali@aboutwithfriends.co.uk
-
If activities are oversubscribed and there is no
place for you then you will be notified as soon as possible.
If you have
booked a place, and cannot attend, you should contact us as soon
as possible, so that another member can be offered the place.
If the activity
is one that we have to prepay, for example – theatre, days out
etc, you will be asked to send in the money in advance at the time
of booking. If we do not have a place available for you your money
will be refunded. If you cancel or fail to show, and we cannot
fill the place, you will lose the money paid.
Should you turn
up, and have not booked in, it may be necessary for you to return
home. This may be due to insufficient transport or volunteers or
because we have not purchased a ticket for you.
Transport
We do not
routinely provide lifts – on some occasions it may be possible
for a volunteer to give a lift if they are in the area.
Should you need help with transport contact our office, and
we may be able to link you with somebody else in the area.
For members receiving a lift, a contribution of £3 towards
mileage is requested.
Photography
On occasions we
take photographs of members and volunteers at activities;
sometimes these may be used in publicity.
If you would prefer not to have your picture taken, or not
have it used in publicity please tell us.
Health &
Safety
As a charity we
take our responsibility for the Health and Safety of all of our
members, volunteers and staff very seriously. All activities are
risk assessed and supported by appropriate numbers of staff /
volunteers.
We expect all of
our members to pay attention to Health & Safety and to take
reasonable responsibility for theirs and their peers well-being at
all times. Any concerns should be raised with the Project Director
or any volunteer or Trustee.
Every member is
assessed by the Project Director when joining About with Friends.
This includes details of any risks, medical conditions and
medications. It is the responsibility of the member / carer to
keep us informed of any changes that might affect their time with
the group.
Respect
All members are
expected to treat their peers, staff, volunteers and the public
with respect. Anti-social behaviour, violence or abuse will not be
tolerated and may result in the member being asked to leave the
group.
We thank you for your time in reading these
rules of membership and look forward to another year of fun and
enjoyment with you.
